Ordering and Returns Policy


+ Prices

Items shown on this website and in official documents published and distributed by Riot Technology Corp. (hereafter “RioT”) are subject to change without notice. RioT’s price quotations shall be open only to unqualified acceptance by the customer in accordance with these General Terms and Conditions, and only within the 30 day period from the date of the quotation. RioT’s prices and quotations do not include any charges or billable items from third-party purchasing agents, and RioT reserves the right at any time to adjust pricing and quotations to account for any such third-party purchasing agent charges or billable items. All travel expenses are billed at cost plus a 10% administration fee. RioT prices and quotations are subject to customer credit approval.

+ Warranty Policy

RioT warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for twelve (12) months from date of shipment unless otherwise specified (refer to specific product pages for additional details) and subject to the following conditions. RioT’s obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing (at RioT’s option) products which have been returned prepaid to RioT. RioT will return warranted equipment by surface carrier prepaid. This warranty shall not apply to any RioT products which have been subjected to misuse, neglect, and accidents of nature or shipping damage. Batteries are not warranted. Under no circumstances will RioT reimburse the claimant for costs incurred in removing and/or reinstalling equipment at a test site. This warranty and RioT’s obligation thereunder, is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including warranties of suitability and fitness for a particular purpose. RioT is not liable for consequential damages. In cases where returned equipment is found to be operating within specifications (i.e. no problem found) our standard repair and shipping charges will apply.

+ Equipment Repair

Products may not be returned without a purchase order and a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number issued by our office. The RMA number must clearly appear on the shipping container, all documentation and the returned equipment. In order to accelerate the turnaround time and reduce the service charges, a detailed description of the problem should accompany the item to be repaired. Repair charges: US$130.00/hour (minimum charge is 1 hour). RioT warrants that the repairs will be performed in a competent and workmanlike manner and that all parts used to repair your product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ninety (90) days, unless otherwise specified by RioT.

+ Educational Discount

A 3% educational discount for products only on our published price list is available to universities, colleges and school boards ordering in quantities of 1 – 9 units only. When 10 or more units are ordered, only the quantity discount will be allowed. The educational discount is not available for the extended warranty, parts and labor including installation, training, consulting, or cable.

NOTE: Refer to the product in the price list and compare any related symbols to the legend to determine eligibility for educational discount.

+ Payment Terms

  1. Payment on Order for non-government organizations unless agreed otherwise.
  2. For established resellers with US$100,000 annual purchase history, Net 30 days on approved credit, Visa or MasterCard. Applications for credit are required for non-university institutions and non-government agencies.
  3. International orders require payment in advance by electronic funds transfer.
  4. Custom orders require 100% payment in advance.

+ Application for Credit

RioT may, in its sole discretion extend credit to a customer. To start the credit application process, download the Application for Credit form and submit to RioT once complete. The review process typically takes 10-15 business days to complete. The application requires a bank reference and three trade references be submitted. If credit is extended, payment terms will be Net 30 days, unless otherwise specified by RioT. Customer will be charged a finance fee of 1.5% per month of any amount past due until paid.

+ Shipping Policy

All shipments are F.O.B. Victoria, BC, Canada with shipping charges (including freight, handling & insurance) prepaid and added to the invoice as a separate item. Orders can be shipped collect upon request.

+ Customs and Brokerage Charges

Customers are responsible for all duty and/or brokerage charges, including when returning items for service, repair or replacement. The Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process for returning items provided detailed instructions to reduce extra costs (e.g. items returned for service should not have any duty charges, so they should be marked as such).

+ Due Diligence

End User bears the responsibility of ensuring all equipment purchased from RioT Technology (Canada) Corp. meets regulatory and safety requirements according to the end use of the equipment.

+ BIS

The US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) may limit exports of USA-made goods to certain individuals and organizations. A license application may need to be completed and submitted to RioT before equipment can be shipped.

+ Delivery

RioT will use all reasonable efforts to meet any estimated timelines or due dates for the delivery of any product(s). If no dates are specified, delivery will typically be 45 days A.R.P.O. (After Receipt of Purchase Order). RioT reserves the right to apply an expediting fee when deemed necessary; after customer consultation. The expediting fee may be applied at a minimum rate of 15% to the total amount invoiced, with a minimum charge of $50.00.

+ Sales Tax

The Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST) or the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), if applicable, is indicated as a separate item on all invoices. Agencies who are GST or HST Exempt must provide an appropriate valid exemption number, stamp or certificate at the time of ordering.

+ Reshelving Fee

Under some circumstances, RioT may approve the return of unused products for exchange or credit. RioT is under no obligation to the customer to accept the return of any product. Specialty items such as custom cable length sensors or any non-standard products that are not included on this website may not be returned. A Reshelving Fee will be applied at a minimum rate of 15% of the invoiced price of the item(s) with a minimum charge of $50.00. RioT must issue an RMA number prior to the return of any product. All shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer and are in addition to the Reshelving Fee.

+ Custom Calibrations

Items being returned for calibration which have been prepaid must have an RMA number. The procedures for returning these items are the same as outlined in the “Equipment Repair” and “Shipping Policy” sections on this page.

+ Cancellation of Purchase Order

RioT reserves the right to assess a 15% surcharge for cancellation of any purchase order in whole or in part for standard products listed on this website. Specialty items such as custom cable length sensors or any non-standard products that are not included on this website may not be cancelled once the purchase order is received.

+ Shortages and/or Damages

Claims must be reported to RioT Technology Corp. within seven (7) working days after delivery of goods to the customer.
